Congratulations on the birth of your child!  We are so excited that you have chosen to have your child baptized in our parish community.  The Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in the journey as a Catholic Christian. 

Infant Baptism at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

We encourage families to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism during Mass on available Saturdays and Sundays.  However, arrangements can be made for baptisms outside of Mass.  During Lent, baptisms are only done outside of Mass.  

Baptismal Preparation

For families with new arrivals, we offer in-person classes for baptism preparation every other month on the following Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. (Join us for Mass before or after the class!):

• If this is your first baby, please register for a class using the link below. 
• If you have been to a baptismal class with another child within the last 5 years at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton you do not need to attend another session. 
•  If you are not a registered parishioner please contact the parish office directly for further assistance at office@seasp.org or visit our New Member Page to register with our parish.
   

• After completing the class, please call Kathy Lester at 319-393-3778 in the parish office to schedule the Sacrament of Baptism for your baby.

Adults and children who are not infants (i.e. seven years old and up) go through the process of OCIA to prepare to receive the Sacrament of Baptism.  You can learn more about the process for baptism here.
